New! ...Current ratings up to 600 amps on current limiting fuses!

AutomationDirect has teamed up with Edison Fuse, a subsidiary of Cooper Industries, the worldwide leader in circuit protection, to offer the Edison line of fuses, including fuse holder and fuse block products. Cooper Industries is a $4.1B corporation with seven electrical products divisions, including two fuse brands, along with fuse holders and fuse blocks.

The Edison Fuse products are industry-standard fuses that are designed using the highest quality materials and manufacturing methods. All Edison fuses can be directly cross referenced and used as replacements for other name-brand fuses such as Littelfuse, Ferraz, Siemens, and many more. See the manufacturer cross reference list in the Technical Info section for this product category on our Web site, or in our free product catalog.

Fuses are overcurrent protective devices that contain a calibrated current-carrying element which melts and opens under specified overcurrent conditions. Fuses can be used for a variety of overcurrent and overload applications. They can be used to protect transformers, motors, DC power supplies, lighting circuits, contactors, relays and other industrial and commercial electrical equipment and conductors.

Fuse & Fuse Holder Overview

The Edison family of fuses is divided into two classes:
  • Current Limiting: Class CC, Class J, Class RK

  • General Purpose: Class M Midget and Small Dimension
The fuse selection guides below are general summaries of the specifications included for each fuse type.
These selection guides do not include the many variables that can exist for specific situations such as local codes, unusual temperature, or other operating conditions.

When selecting fuses, be sure to comply with any applicable PUBLIC SAFETY standards that apply to over-current Protection Devices (OPD).

Current Limiting Fuses

AutomationDirect carries the most popular Class CC, RK and J current limiting fuses for industrial control applications.
These current limiting fuses, frequently used in applications for motor branch circuit protection, are available in both time-delay and fast-acting models.
In addition, the CC line is recognized for NEC branch circuit protection and Type 2 coordinated applications for IEC or NEMA starters/contactors.

Current Limiting Fuses - Selection

Class J

  • JDL Series - Time-delay fuse with space-saving dimensions and high performance.
Recommended for Type 2 (no damage) protection of IEC style motor starters and contactors.

  • Packages of Class J Current Limiting Fuses start at $89.00 (JDL1 - per package of 10).

Class RK

  • ECNR/ECSR Series - Time-delay, dual element construction with superior overload and cycling capabilities.
Recommended for AC power distribution system mains, feeders and branch circuits. RK5 current limiting.

  • LENRK/LESRK Series - Time-delay fuses having up to 40% more current limiting than ECNR/ECSR series. RK1 current limiting.

  • Packages of Class RK Current Limiting Fuses start at $24.25 (ECNR15 - per package of 10).

Class CC

  • HCLR Series - Fast-acting, compact fuse design rated for 600 VAC. Applications include lighting and resistive heating loads.

  • HCTR Series - Time-delay design allows closer sizing for inductive loads such as control transformers and solenoids.

  • EDCC Series - Time-delay design for motor branch circuit protection. Use for protection of small horsepower motor circuits.

  • Packages of Class CC Current Limiting Fuses start at $40.25 (HCLR10 - per package of 10).

General Purpose Fuses

AutomationDirect carries two classes of general purpose fuses: midget class and small dimension electronic.
A Class M general purpose midget fuse is a great low-cost solution when adherence to extensive current limiting codes is not required.
Small dimension, slow-blow and fast-acting electronic fuses come in two standard sizes, 1/4 in. x 1-1/4 in. and 5mm x 20mm, and have nickel-plated brass end caps.

General Purpose Fuses - Selection

Class M - Midget

  • MCL/MOL Series - Fast-acting, compact midget fuse design rated for 250 and 600 VAC. Used in control circuits and for electronic equipment protection.

  • MEQ/MEN Series - Time-delay design allows harmless inductive surges to pass without needless fuse opening.
Used for supplemental protection of transformers, solenoids and other high-inrush circuits.

  • Packages of Midget class fuses start at $8.25 (MOL10 - per package of 10).

Small Dimension Electronic

  • ABC Series - Fast Acting, Ceramic Tube Fuses. 1/4” x 1-1/4” (6.3mm x 32mm). UL Listed and CSA Certified.

  • AGC Series - Fast Acting, Glass Tube Fuses. 1/4” x 1-1/4” (6.3mm x 32mm). UL Listed and CSA Certified.

  • GMA Series - 5x20 mm Fast Acting, Glass Tube Fuses. Low breaking capacity. 0.197” x 0.788” (5 mm x 20 mm). UL Listed and CSA Certified.

  • GMC Series - 5x20 mm Medium Time Delay, Glass Tube Fuses. Low breaking capacity, 0.197” x 0.788” (5 mm x 20 mm). UL Listed and CSA Certified.

  • MDA Series - Time Delay, Ceramic Tube Fuses. 1/4” x 1-1/4” (6.3mm x 32mm). UL Listed and CSA Certified.

  • MDL Series - Time Delay, Glass Tube Fuses. 1/4” x 1-1/4” (6.3mm x 32mm). UL Listed and CSA Certified.

  • S500 Series - 5x20 mm Fast Acting, Glass Tube Fuses. Low breaking capacity. 0.197” x 0.788” (5 mm x 20 mm). UL Recognized and RoHS compliant.

  • S506 Series - 5x20 mm Time Delay, Glass Tube Fuses. Low breaking capacity. 0.197” x 0.788” (5 mm x 20 mm). UL Recognized and RoHS compliant.

  • Packages of small dimension electronic fuses start at $1.50 (AGC1 - per pack of 5).
